Notice - Yac, As Yet Another Cache

published on March 18, 2013 in technical

Yac is a user data cache based on shared memory for PHP. It can be used to replace APC or local memcached.

After creating Yaf and Yar, Laruence created Yac - Yet another cache. It is quite simple to use, it will probably make to PECL sometime soon.

But there is a small performance comparison that the author did, which made it all interesting to me. He compared Yac to APC and the result was interesting. Yac outperformed APC quite strongly, giving a seven times higher request/s value compared to APC. The test results can be found here. Sadly, the post is not in English, but the test result and the code used is. Check it out for yourself.

As for me, I will try Yac, as I try out most of the things Laurence does.
