Free APIs

All of us have used APIs and probably a few free ones too. Here are some you might not know yet.

1. REST Countries

REST Countries allows you to get general information about countries in the world. You can also list all the countries in the world if you need to store that somwhere in your application.


Telize offers a free API for getting location information. There are various queries one can send, even from JavaScript by using JSONP.
If you are familiar with MaxMind services, it will be easy to use this one.

3. timezonedb

timezonedb is a timezone database, which can be either downloaded or queried with their API. To be able use the API you need to register.

4. OpenWeatherMap

OpenWeatherMap is a free weather and forecast data API. “The OpenWeatherMap service provides free weather data and forecast API suitable for any cartographic services like web and smartphones applications”

5. mailgun – Free email validation API

mailgun has a free email validation API service. It is quite easy to use and seams to validate existing domains.

6. The nicest one: Open Beer Database

Open Beer Database is a work-in-progress so be careful, it might change. Currently the only supported formats are JSON (application/json) and JSONP (text/javascript).
