When I was a kid I used to draw a lot. This good habit sadly went away when I started coding around seventeen.
I just realized that I’ve been coding for more than fifteen years. And it has been such a fortunate time for me. I have created so many interesting and challenging things.
But there is something that I have been missing for a long time. And that is drawing.
As I mentioned, I used to draw a lot. I loved it. I mostly drew faces. Then, a bit later I discovered photography. Not surprisingly, I loved taking photos of people’s faces. Somehow, faces express feelings – that is why I love them.
Frankly, I would love to draw again. But we live in a digital world, which means that I don’t want to use paper anymore. But I would happily draw on a tablet, or any digital canvas.
There is another thing though, that I only discovered recently. I also like typefaces. That is, I love typefaces. I am a typeface freak. But I have no knowledge or education around these. This is what I would like to change.
I have two new goals for this year. The first one is to get into design, study design a bit, or even deeply.
The other goal is connected to the first one and it concerns typefaces. I want to study typefaces.
For now, the easiest way of doing it is reading some great books about them. This is where I need your help. What books would you recommend for design basics? Or posts, or any other resources. And how about typography? Where should I start?
