Bidding And Salary Negotiation

I've been lately trying to do some freelance work again, and I had to realize that I have no idea of how bidding should be properly done, if there is any available strategy.

I've read a lot about these two. I thought I am going to be smarter if learn how others do it. In the end I had to realize that there is only one simple rule that I have to follow:

Always say a price high enough to make sure you have a profit.

The only good way of doing this is bidding high. You can always go down from there, if needed and apropriate, but it doesn't work the other way around – nobody will ever tell you that you are too cheap.
